PAUSE FOR THOUGHT
Although it’s not always easy to do we must not allow ourselves to be taken in by strange “new” teaching peddled by false teachers. The test is does what they teach totally agree with Scripture or are they bringing some new revelation that only they themselves have been given? 2 John :7,10 and Jude 16-19
The early church was told to be on their guard against false teachers so must we, they easily gain access to our homes via TV or the internet. This does not mean we should become so fearful of receiving the false that we reject the true ministries God has given to His church. Just prayerfully test what they have to say The Holy Spirit will be your guide
In 3 John we hear of a man called Diotrephes who refused to give hospitality to the genuine itinerant Christian ministers not because they were teaching error but because he thought he was more important than anyone else, we must never get to the place where we think we have no more to learn! His problem was pride. We should aim to copy Demetrius another member of the same church who was respected by those outside the local church and had a good testimony among his fellow believers 3 John:9-12
Scripture is very clear that when receiving a messenger into our church or home we share in the rewards of that persons ministry. Those who are not so physically active as they once were can now through prayer and giving still be actively involved in the ministry of Jesus Christ 2 John:8 and 3 John: 8 and Mathew 10: 40-42
MEMORY VERSE
Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers 3 John : 2
