Nothing can separate us from God’s love Romans 8:29-39

PAUSE FOR THOUGHT

God’s purpose for us was not an afterthought; it was settled before the foundation of the world. We can rejoice in the fact that God has always known us. God’s love is eternal 8:28

The Holy Spirit caused Paul to write these words especially for you, believe them right now what ever you’re facing 8:31-34

When we go through all sorts of trouble it never means that God has stopped loving us. He is always with us, suffering should never drive us away from God but draw us closer, in suffering we can more readily identify with Jesus 8:35-36

Can anything separate us from the love of God? even if our thoughts lie to us about God’s love and they sometimes do, don’t believe your thoughts believe God Romans 8:38 N.L.T.

MEMORY VERSE

What can we say about such wonderful things as these? If God s for us who can ever be against us?

Timely Words. Captivated by what we think!

We are in a warfare unlike any other, our enemy is unseen but his tactics remain the same in every generation.

The devil and his demons seek to deceive us in two primary ways first by causing us to think that the thoughts put in our minds by the devil are our own, then by thinking they are in accordance with Gods will.

When we get to that stage we are already deceived, the Bible calls it having a stronghold in our thinking.

A stronghold is an addiction to wrong thought patterns in our minds. So how is a stronghold broken? Paul tells us how in 2 Corinthians 10:1-5

1 understand that you are in a spiritual battle against the devil.
For we are not fighting against people made of flesh and blood, but against the evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against those mighty powers of darkness who rule this world, and against wicked spirits in the heavenly realms. Ephesians 6:12 N.L.T.

2 the devil is a liar so because its his nature he will always try to deceive you.
He was a murderer from the beginning and has always hated the truth. There is no truth in him. When he lies, it is consistent with his character; For he is a liar and the father of lies. John 8:44b N.L.T.

3 deal with pride by bringing all your thoughts in complete obedience to Gods word.
With these weapons ( prayer, faith, hope, love, Gods word, the Holy Spirit) “emphasis mine” we break down every proud argument that keeps people from knowing God. With these weapons we conquer their rebellious ideas, we teach them to obey Christ. 2 Corinthians 10:5 N.L.T.

4 be alert to what you see and hear especially on TV and social media not everything that claims to be Christian is!
Be careful! Watch out for attacks from the devil, your great enemy. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for some victim to devour. 1 Peter 5:8 N.L.T.

We can either be captivated by our thoughts or take our thoughts captive. The choice is yours.

From Suffering to Glory Romans 8:18-28

PAUSE FOR THOUGHT

It’s impossible to be a disciple of Jesus Christ without identifying with Him in His suffering, in some countries Christians are being persecuted to the point of death. To live as Jesus did means serving others giving up my rights, resisting pressure to conform to the world. Nothing that we suffer for Christ compares to How much He suffered for us. 8:18

We are not left to our own resources to cope with suffering, even if we don’t know what to pray in a given situation God does, the Holy Spirit prays with us and for us for He always prays according to the will of God our Heavenly Father.

The promise of God is that if we ask anything in line with His will He will hear us. this should give us great confidence 1 John 5:14-15 For many Christians It takes much faith to pray “thy will be done” why is this? what about youself!

As we live lives submitted to the will of God because of the intercession of the Holy Spirit on our behalf we have the added assurance of the “all things working together for our good“ 8:26-28

MEMORY VERSE
For all creation is waiting eagerly for that future day when God will reveal who His children really are Romans 8:19 N.L.T.

Jesus warns against deception Mathew 24:4

WHEN THE PROPHETS GET IT WRONG

PAUSE FOR THOUGHT

If I think I can never be deceived I am deceived already!

Jesus said in Mathew 24 that there will be religious deception, social and political upheavals, natural disasters, calamities, disloyalty, and persecution during which the gospel will go forth. sounds much like today!

Always giving glory to God 1 Corinthians 10:31. The testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy. Revelations 19:10b

I owe it to the Lord not to allow anything to hinder my testimony.

MEMORY VERSE
Jesus answered and said “Take heed that no one deceives you.

Life in the Spirit Romans chapter 8: 1-17

PAUSE FOR THOUGHT
No condemnation! now or ever, because of Jesus death on our behalf God has declared us not guilty! And we are recognised by God as being “in Christ” 8:1

To be “in Christ” means you are now part of Gods family with a new identity 8:16

Walking in the Spirit is to follow the desires of the Holy Spirit, your mind is key, what you think about will influence your actions. To be spiritually minded brings life and peace. 8:5-6

The Holy Spirit is Gods guarantee of eternal life for those who believe in Jesus, He dwells in us because of our faith in Jesus Christ. It’s not possible to be a Christian without the Holy Spirit dwelling in us 8:9

Every Christian is an heir of God the Father because we have been adopted into Gods own family. We have been given the privilege of calling God “father” and if this wasn’t enough we are not only heirs with God, but joint heirs with Jesus Gods own son 8:17

Questions to ponder. What does suffering with Christ mean to you? Should every Christian expect to suffer? What do you say to a Christian who says words like these “I didn’t know this when I joined up” or to the zealots who go out of their way to suffer?

MEMORY VERSE
The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God. Romans 8:16 N.K.J.

Christians are no longer bound to the Law Romans chapter 7

An audio message on Romans 7

PAUSE FOR THOUGHT

Nothing can alter the fact that Jesus Christ died to sin, and because you are in Him you have also died been buried and raised together with Jesus. “all past tense” There is nothing more you have to do to make it so, just believe that it is so 6:2-3.

The Law is good it teaches what is right and reveals what is sin, it exposes sin for what it is (exceedingly sinful) 7:13 but the Law is powerless to produce righteousness 7:12.

The Law makes sin known and revives the flesh this is the same for every Christian, like Paul we all face the same struggle with sin and soon discover that the law cannot deliver anyone, it is powerless to make us holy.

The battle lies in the mind it is there the victory is won 7:23. We are to bring every thought captive to the obedience of Christ 2 Corinthians 10:1-5. Every temptation every accusing thought has to bend the knee to Gods truth. We are new creations created in Christ Jesus to do good works, don’t fall for the devils tactics he will flee from you as you resist him in the strength God has given you.

MEMORY VERSE

But now we have been released from the law, for we have died with Christ, and we are no longer captive to its power. Now we can really serve God, not in the old way by obeying the letter of the law. But in the new way, by the Spirit. Romans 7:6 N.L.T.

Freedom to obey God Romans 6:12-23

PAUSE FOR THOUGHT

If you’re a Christian you’ve already died and been raised together with Christ before you first believed so just enjoy enjoy Christ’s victory!

The secret of victory over sin for the Christian is the death of Jesus and believing that we died with Him 6:7

“For sin shall not have dominion over you” no Christian is compelled to keep on sinning 6:14 Satan has no power to keep Christians bound in sin.

Paul says that his readers had obeyed God with all their heart the new teaching God had given them 6:17 if we would enjoy all the benefits of Calvary let’s join the early Christians in wholeheartedly believing Bible truth.

MEMORY VERSE

But now you are free from the power of sin and have become slaves of God. Romans 6:22

You died with Christ when He died on the Cross for you, and you received new Life because you were raised with Him from the tomb. Romans 6:1-14

PAUSE FOR THOUGHT

There is no other way to live as a victorious Christian except by putting “all your faith” exclusively in Jesus Christ.

Some Christians spend endless years of defeat by choosing to believe that it’s OK to continue to sin that grace may abound, rather than counting themselves to of died and been risen with Christ so that sin might lose its power? 6:1-4

Baptism has been called “Believers” baptism because you have already put your faith in Jesus and received the free gift of salvation and become one with Jesus in his death and resurrection 6:3

Because of Christ’s death and resurrection believers should never fear death. death has no power over Jesus because Jesus conquered death by His resurrection. In the same way because we died with Jesus, death no longer has any power over us. 6:7-11

Because of His obedience to His Father, Jesus lives for the glory of God, by His death and resurrection Jesus has freed us to live for God. 6:14

A VERSE FROM REDEMPTION HYMNAL no 692. Buried with Christ and raised with Him too; What is there left for me to do? Simply to cease from struggling and strife, Simply to walk in newness of life.

Christ has brought us into this place of highest privilege where we now stand. Romans chapter 5.

PAUSE FOR Thought

When you run into trials and we all do! don’t let trials get you down. Just remind yourself that God allows them so that just like Abraham you to can grow strong in faith and have a confident expectation of all the good things to come. 5:3-5

I love the phrase “at the right time” Jesus came at the right time in history and according to His own schedule. God is in control of all history. The timing, the method, and every event surrounding Jesus death. This verse declares the sovereignty of our God. 5:6

We are all born into Adam’s family physical line, but because of Christ’s death and resurrection we can be born again into Christ’s spiritual family through faith in Jesus. 5:18

MEMORY VERSE

And since we have been made right in Gods sight by the blood of Christ, He will certainly save us from God’s judgement. Romans 5:9 N.L.T.

The faith that takes God at His Word Romans chapter 4.

PAUSE FOR THOUGHT

How much faith does it take to be saved by God? If we think like this we miss the point entirely. For it is Jesus who saves us, it doesn’t depend on our feelings and certainly not on our actions. Faith is believing and trusting in Jesus Christ and accepting the wonderful gift of salvation. 4:5

Some have said that they have put their faith in faith, or that there are different types of faith for different needs ie saving faith, or mountain moving faith, or faith to heal. The bottom line is our faith is always in Jesus Christ. 4:24

Abraham was circumcised after he believed God it was a sign of his faith in God. Being circumcised is very important for Jewish males but only if they have the same faith Abraham had before he was circumcised. 4:12

As no one is made right by keeping the law what purpose does it play?

MEMORY VERSE

When people work, their wages are not a gift. Workers earn what they receive. But people are declared righteous because of their faith, not because of their work. Romans 4:4-5 N.L.T.
