Stop loving this evil world and all that it offers 1 John 2: 7-17

PAUSE FOR THOUGHT

The commandment to love is both old and new, Jesus gave love a fresh expression and meaning not only by showing respect, but by self sacrifice and servant hood. Love is the identifying mark of a Christian 2:7

Young men describe those who are spiritually strong because they keep the word of God in their hearts. They read, meditate and become doers of the word James 1:22

No Christian can love this evil world system and claim to have the love of the Father, here is a definition of the way the devil would attempt to hoodwink Christians 2: 15-16 The lust of the flesh – evil cravings and wrong desires. The lust of the eyes – things that look good (covetousness). The pride of life – trusts in ones own sufficiency power and resources, despising Gods law

MEMORY VERSE

And this world is fading away, along with everything it craves. But if you do the will of God, you will live forever 1 John 2:17 N.L.T.

We should walk as Jesus walked 1 John 2:1-6

PAUSE FOR THOUGHT

Never be afraid to ask Jesus to plead your case, He has already won it Romans 8:33-34 Hebrews 7:24-25

Jesus is the atoning sacrifice for our sin, His death satisfies the wrath of God and paid the death penalty for our sin. In doing so Jesus satisfied Gods just requirement and removed our sin forever. 2:2

How do we know we belong to Jesus Christ? 2:3

MEMORY VERSE

He who says he abides in Him ought himself to walk just as He walked 1 John 2:6

That which we have heard and seen and touched 1 John 1:1-10

PAUSE FOR THOUGHT

Like many of the early readers of Johns epistle we have not seen Jesus in the flesh, but we have the eyewitness account of Him. We can certainly trust their eye witness accounts about Jesus 1:1

Our fellowship with other Christians is only possible because of our living relationship with Jesus Christ 1:3

To teach that a Christian is no longer capable of sin is deception at its worse, closely followed by the claim that a Christian has no sin to confess because of Christ’s sacrifice 1:8-10

MEMORY VERSE

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness 1 John 1:9

Jesus restores and commissions Peter John 21:15-25

PAUSE FOR THOUGHT

Do you really love Jesus? are you his friend? Are you willing to follow and serve him? That’s the real test. 21:15-19

“Lord you know all things” Jesus wounded Peters heart in order to make Peter fit for the high honour of Shepherding the Lord’s sheep. 21:17

Like Peter we tend to compare our lives and callings to others, Jesus response to us is the same as his response to Peter, what is that to you? you follow me. 21:22

MEMORY VERSE
Then Jesus said “follow me“ John 21:19b N.L.T.

Jesus invites you to come and dine! John 21:1-14

PAUSE FOR THOUGHT

The disciples had fished all night but caught nothing! has this been your experience? their answer is yours also 21:6

I like to think that Jesus made the fish all 153 swim into that strong net what does that suggest to you? 21:11

Simon Peter was the disciple who pulled in the net I wonder if he remembered Jesus word some three years earlier I will make you a fisher of men? Gods promise to you will surely come to pass if you don’t give up 21:11

VERSE TO REMEMBER

Jesus said unto them, come and dine John 21:12 K.J. Authorised Bible

RESURRECTION DAY! John chapter 20

PAUSE FOR THOUGHT

The linen clothes were left as if Jesus had passed right through them, just as later He passed through an unopened door 20:5,19,26

Like the disciples we cannot meet Jesus until we discover Jesus is alive 20:8,16-18

Jesus breathed upon His disciples the breath of life 20:22, God’ first breath upon Adam made him different from every other form of created life Genesis 2:7 Now through the breath of Jesus is imparted eternal, spiritual life. Pentecost followed 50 days later when on the birthday of the Church they would all be baptised with the Holy Spirit and fire! Acts 2: 1-4

VERSE TO REMEMBER
But these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that believing in Him you will have life. John 20:31 N.L.T.

Jesus the King on a Cross John 19

PAUSE FOR THOUGHT

Throughout His trial we see that Jesus was in control, not Pilate or the Jewish leaders. Jesus knew the truth, He knew the plan and purposes of God, He said “no one takes my life from me, but I lay it down Of my own accord John 10:18

Jesus King of the Jews was written in Hebrew, Latin and Greek. Pilate meant this sign to be ironic, but Jesus is the King not only of the Jews but of the Gentiles also 19:20

Many prophesies were fulfilled on that day, to grasp the full picture read the other accounts in the synoptic Gospels along side of Johns. Each writer records meaningful details, but each brings out the same message, Jesus died on the Cross, so that by believing in Him we shall not perish but have everlasting life John 3:16

MEMORY VERSE

He paid for you with the precious life blood of Christ, the sinless, spotless Lamb of God. 1 Peter 1:19 N.L.T.

Jesus said my Kingdom is not of this World John 18:28-40

PAUSE FOR THOUGHT

Jesus only spoke the truth, He is the only one who has ever lived who was qualified to do so because as God He is all knowing John 14:6

Pilate failed to recognise the truth because like Many today he thought that truth was relative, but it is far worse to recognise the truth but fail to heed it 18:38

If there is anything that you find difficult to believe just bring it to God in prayer, Lord I believe help my unbelief Mark 9:24

MEMORY VERSE
All that love the truth recognise that what I say is true John 18: 37b NLT

Jesus is betrayed and arrested John 18:1-27

PAUSE FOR THOUGHT

This band of frightened disciples would undergo severe testing before they were transformed from hesitant followers to dynamic leaders. 18:8

Sometimes like Peter we take matters into our own hands instead of believing that God is in charge. If Peter had had his own way Jesus would not of gone to the cross. And we would still be held by our sins 18:11

The servant girl probably recognised Peters Galilean accent but Peter denied knowing Jesus, Are you easily recognisable as a Christian or are you a silent witness? 18:17

MEMORY VERSE

But Jesus said to Peter “Put your sword back into its sheath. Shall I not drink from the cup my Father has given me?” John 18:11

Jesus prays for His disciples John 17:1-26

PAUSE FOR THOUGHT

Gods glory is the revelation of His character and presence. The lives of Christians are to show Christ’s character, and He is present to the world through them. 17:10

A Christian who doesn’t share the worlds values should not be surprised the world treats them the way it does? 17:14

What does being salt and light to the world mean in practice? 17:18

MEMORY VERSE

I am not asking you to take them out of the world, but to keep them safe from the evil one John 17: 15
