The only way to be right with God. Romans 3:19-31

PAUSE FOR THOUGHT.

We can never be right before Holy God by obeying the law. Only through faith in Jesus Christ. This means a genuine heartfelt reliance on Jesus Christ being certain that He went to the cross on my behalf. 3:22

No good deed that we ever do will make us right with God, God declares us righteous because we have put our faith in His Son Jesus! Righteousness is a gift ! 3:22,5:17

When God declares us not guilty every sin that we’ve ever committed is forgiven God no longer has a record of our sins. From God’s perspective it’s as though we never sinned. 3:24

Romans 6:23 “the wages of sin is death” Jesus never sinned so He didn’t earn sins wages. But Jesus paid the debt “ransom” in full when He died on the cross for our sins. The debt that was owed was owed to God. The wonderful thing? Only Jesus could afford to pay the debt which we owed. 3:24

Because Jesus Christ bore the wrath of God that we deserve then it is no longer stored up for us. 2:5, 3:25

By sending Jesus to die on the cross for us God was proved Just in punishing sin and yet At the same time justifying us (making us right) through our faith in Jesus Christ.

Justified To be declared righteous in God’s sight. (As though we have never sinned) Redemption a release secured by the payment of a ransom ( the price paid was the blood of Jesus) Propitiation the appeasement of divine wrath.

MEMORY VERSE.
Can we boast, then, that we have done anything to be accepted by God? No, because our acquittal is not based on our good deeds. It is based on our faith.

God never breaks His promises, He is forever faithful and true Romans 3:1-22

PAUSE FOR THOUGHT

Paul has shown us what happens when there is no fear of God 3:18 What does the fear of God mean to you Awe or reverence perhaps? do you think this is the kind of the “Fear of God” that Paul had in mind?

There are two unbiblical extremes that must be avoided, Legalism and License!

One of the ingenious ways of justifying sin is to claim that grace means a Christian can keep on sinning without there being any consequences. Grace does not give license to sin and it certainly has consequences the most serious being the gradual quieting of the Holy Spirits voice to the conscience 6:1-2, 3:8

Keeping Gods law is not the way we get right with God. Jesus Christ is the only one who ever kept the Law perfectly. so now we have a different way of being right with God, we believe in Gods Son Jesus who has taken away our sins. So why do some Christians fall into legalism after having tasted the true forgiveness that only comes as a result of the grace of Jesus Christ? 3:20-21

MEMORY VERSE

We are made right in Gods sight when we trust in Jesus Christ to take away our sins. And we all can be saved in this same way, no matter who we are or what we have done. Romans 3:22 N.L.T

God has no favourites He treats Both Jew and Gentile the same. Romans chapter 2.

PAUSE FOR THOUGHT

“What terrible people we have been reading about!” but how humbling when we see ourselves just as bad and we have no excuse. There is no other way apart from Christ 2:1

Religious or racial background will not keep anyone from judgement, only saving faith in Jesus Christ can bring salvation to Jew and Gentile alike. Every Christian is Abraham’s seed and heirs of the promise because they are Christ’s 2:11 Galatians 3:29

No one is condemned for what they don’t know but for what they do with what they do know 2:12-15

Have you ever told others to do something you were unwilling to do yourself? We need to make sure are actions match our words 2:21-27

VERSE TO REMEMBER

True circumcision is not a cutting of the body but a change of heart produced by Gods Spirit. Whoever has that kind of change seeks praise from God, not from people. Romans 2:29 b N.L.T.

I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ for it is the power of God at work, saving everyone who believes Jews first and also Gentiles Romans 1:16-32.

PAUSE FOR THOUGHT

The Gospel is Gods message of salvation it alone has life changing power and it is for everyone every race all ages, the well educated and uneducated.

Why the Jew first? God did not choose the Jews because they deserved to be chosen but because He wanted to show His love and mercy to them, for it would be through them that Jesus would come, not to play favourites! God chose the Jews to reveal His grace “ undeserved favour” This is that grace that is freely offered to anyone who is prepared to put their absolute trust in Jesus to save them. 1:16

When people reject what they know about God. Instead of looking to Him as the creator And sustainer of life, they see themselves as the Center of the universe. They then invent gods that are projections of their own selfish ideas 1:21-23

We often find ourselves decrying the state of the world but we don’t have the right to judge because there but for the grace of God God I.

VERSE TO REMEMBER

God did not send His Son into the World to condemn it, but to save it. John 3:17 N.L.T

Paul’s letter to the Romans. Called to be Gods very own people. Romans 1:1-15.

PAUSE FOR THOUGHT

Are you as keen to read the Old Testament as you are to read the New? do you think the Old Testament gives a full revelation of Jesus? 1:3

Paul sees himself as a slave, a servant of God, God called Paul to be an apostle. Our willingness to serve and obey Jesus Christ enables us to be useful servants of Jesus. 1:3

Paul wanted to visit the Roman church so that he could impart a spiritual blessing to them. What gift has God given you that you could impart to others? 1:11

A DITTY TO REMEMBER

“The NEW is in the OLD concealed the OLD is in the NEW revealed”

Go on! be a blessing to those who minister for Jesus. But don’t give hospitality to false teachers. 2 John and 3 John.

PAUSE FOR THOUGHT

Although it’s not always easy to do we must not allow ourselves to be taken in by strange “new” teaching peddled by false teachers. The test is does what they teach totally agree with Scripture or are they bringing some new revelation that only they themselves have been given? 2 John :7,10 and Jude 16-19

The early church was told to be on their guard against false teachers so must we, they easily gain access to our homes via TV or the internet. This does not mean we should become so fearful of receiving the false that we reject the true ministries God has given to His church. Just prayerfully test what they have to say The Holy Spirit will be your guide

In 3 John we hear of a man called Diotrephes who refused to give hospitality to the genuine itinerant Christian ministers not because they were teaching error but because he thought he was more important than anyone else, we must never get to the place where we think we have no more to learn! His problem was pride. We should aim to copy Demetrius another member of the same church who was respected by those outside the local church and had a good testimony among his fellow believers 3 John:9-12

Scripture is very clear that when receiving a messenger into our church or home we share in the rewards of that persons ministry. Those who are not so physically active as they once were can now through prayer and giving still be actively involved in the ministry of Jesus Christ 2 John:8 and 3 John: 8 and Mathew 10: 40-42

MEMORY VERSE

Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers 3 John : 2

PAUSE FOR THOUGHT
